Smokin’ Seventeen Audiobook Review

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Author: Janet Evanovich

Narrator: Lorelei King

Length: 6 hrs., 22 min.

Publisher: Random House Audio

Publisher’s Summary: Where there’s smoke there’s fire, and no one knows this better than New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum.

Dead bodies are showing up in shallow graves on the empty construction lot of Vincent Plum Bail Bonds. No one is sure who the killer is, or why the victims have been offed, but what is clear is that Stephanie’s name is on the killer’s list.

Short on time to find evidence proving the killer’s identity, Stephanie faces further complications when her family and friends decide that it’s time for her to choose between her longtime off-again-on-again boyfriend, Trenton cop Joe Morelli, and the bad boy in her life, security expert Ranger. Stephanie’s mom is encouraging Stephanie to dump them both and choose a former high school football star who’s just returned to town. Stephanie’s sidekick, Lula, is encouraging Stephanie to have a red-hot boudoir “bake-off.” And Grandma Bella, Morelli’s old-world grandmother, is encouraging Stephanie to move to a new state when she puts “the eye” on Stephanie.

With a cold-blooded killer after her, a handful of hot men, and a capture list that includes a dancing bear and a senior citizen vampire, Stephanie’s life looks like it’s about to go up in smoke.

My Review: The greatest things I’ve found about the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich is that you can listen to these audiobooks over and over and never get bored. They’re packed with humor, drama and adventure. The characters are amazing and with a narrator like Lorelei King you can’t go wrong.

This audiobook is much like its predecessors. It’s funny, full of adventure and of course, Stephanie gets herself in a tight spot. In Smokin’ Seventeen, Stephanie’s mom has decided the clock is ticking and Stephanie needs to find a husband… soon! Stephanie’s hasn’t had any luck marrying Morelli and in her mom’s mind Ranger isn’t an option, she’s determined to find her a suitable man. Boy is her mom off! Stephanie has a full plate the way it is keeping up with Morelli and Ranger. These are two men that don’t need anymore testosterone.

The publisher’s summary gives away plenty and I hate to say too much so I’ll stop with that. Read the publisher’s summary… Now, the characters! I love these characters! I want Stephanie to be my best friend so we can go track FTAs together and grab donuts. Lula can come too, she’s hilarious!

Since I watched the movie trailer for “One for the Money”, I can actually match these characters with real faces. Check out the trailer here.  The move is set to release in January, 2012. And yes, I’ll be in line!

I’m excited to see what Evanovich has in store for Stephanie and the crew in Explosive Eighteen, set to hit the world on November 22, 2011. I can’t wait!!!!

Narrator Review: Lorelei King does a great job keeping up with Janet Evanovich’s twists and turns.
